A home is more than a building. It is the foundation from which whānau can learn, work, heal and plan for the future. MOREHU PARTY believes housing policy must be judged by whether it gives people security, dignity and a genuine path forward.

Explore realistic pathways that help working whānau build long-term security and move towards owning a home.

Local solutions

Back iwi, Māori, community and locally led housing approaches that respond to the realities of each rohe.

Prevention before crisis

Strengthen early support so fewer families reach homelessness, emergency housing or severe financial distress.

Before this priority becomes final party policy, MOREHU PARTY will:

Listen directly to renters, homeowners, kaumātua, rangatahi and people experiencing housing insecurity.
Test proposals for affordability, fairness and long-term supply.
Work with housing, construction, finance and community experts before final policy approval.

This page sets out a founding priority and direction for policy development. It is not a final manifesto commitment. Detailed proposals will be consulted on, costed where required and approved through MOREHU PARTY’s proper democratic processes.
